നമ്മുടെ കുടുംബ ഡയറക്‌ടറിയുടെ ആമുഖത്തിൽ കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന കുടുംബ ചരിത്രം വളരെ സംക്ഷിപ്‌തമായാണ് കാണുന്നത്. അതിനോടു കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്ത് മറ്റു ചില കാര്യങ്ങൾ അറിയിക്കുന്നു. ചാലക്കുടിയിൽ നിന്നും ഒല്ലൂരിൽ വന്ന വംശ പരമ്പരയിൽ നമുക്ക് അറിവു കിട്ടിയിട്ടുള്ള എഴ് മക്കളിൽ ഒരാൾ ഫ്രാൻസിസ് സ്കോസ് കത്തനാരായിരുന്നു. അച്ഛൻ്റെ പേര് ഫ്രാൻസിസ് സ്കോസ് ആയിരുന്നു എന്നതിന്റെ തെളിവ് കാണാം. C.M.C യിലുള്ള അമ്മായി (Sr. ഇസബെല്ല) വഴി അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ട്. Sr. ഇസബെല്ല അമ്മായി പൊറിഞ്ചു അപ്പാപ്പൻ്റെ പെങ്ങളുടെ മകളായിരുന്നു. (പൊറിഞ്ചു അപ്പാപ്പൻ എൻ്റെ അപ്പാപ്പൻ ഐപ്പുവിൻ്റെ അപ്പനായിരുന്നു.) C.M.C യിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന Sr. ഇസബെല്ല അമ്മായി നമ്മുടെ വീട്ടിൽ നിന്നാണ് പഠിച്ചത്.

ബഹുമാനപ്പെട്ട ഫ്രാൻസിസ് സ്കോസ് അച്ചൻ്റെ ഒരു ഡയറി കുറിപ്പ് 'സത്യ നാഥ കാഹളം' എന്ന ഒരു മാഗസിൻ്റെ ശേഖരണത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അതിൽ നമ്മുടെ കുടുംബചരിത്രം കുറച്ചൊക്കെ രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിരുന്നു. ഈ രേഖകൾ തൃക്കൂറുള്ള കൊച്ചു മിഖായേലിൻ്റെ കൈവശമായിരുന്നു സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരുന്നത്. അത് കാണുവാനും, വായിക്കുവാനും എനിക്ക് സാധിച്ചു. അത് തിരികെ കൊടുത്തതിനുശേഷം പിന്നീടുള്ള അന്വേഷണത്തിൽ കണ്ടുകിട്ടിയില്ല.

Fr. ഫ്രാൻസിസ് സ്കോസ് അച്ചൻ്റെ ബംഗ്ലാവ് ഒല്ലൂർ പനംകുറ്റിച്ചിറ C.M.C ഇരിക്കുന്ന ചാലക്കുടിയിൽ നിന്നും വന്ന കാരണവർ മേലേടത്ത് മനയിലെ വാസുദേവൻ നമ്പൂതിരി പോഴത്ത് നായന്മാരുടെ കയ്യിൽ നിന്നും വാങ്ങി താമസമാക്കിയതും നമ്മുടെ വംശപരമ്പര ആരംഭിച്ചതും, അങ്ങനെയാണ് പോഴത്ത്-പോഴൻ എന്ന ആ വിളിപ്പേര് കിട്ടിയത്. 1900-ത്തിൽ ഫ്രാൻസിസ് സ്കോസ് അച്ചൻ മരിച്ചപ്പോൾ രൂപത ആ സ്ഥലം ഏറ്റെടുക്കുകയും C.M.C കർമ്മലീത്ത സമൂഹത്തിന് രൂപതയുടെ ആദ്യത്തെ കോൺവെൻ്റായി തുടങ്ങാൻ കൈമാറുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഇതേ വർഷത്തിലാണ് ഒല്ലൂർ C.M.C കർമ്മലീത്ത മഠം ആരംഭിച്ചത്.

ഒല്ലൂർ പള്ളിയുടെ സെമിത്തേരിയ്ക്കടുത്തുള്ള കിണറ്റിൽ നിന്നും കിട്ടിയ ചെമ്പുകൂടത്തിൽ 'ഫ്രാൻസിസ് സ്കോസ് കത്തനാർ വക്' എന്ന് രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അത് എൻ്റെ അപ്പൻ കണ്ടിരുന്നു. പക്ഷേ അത് സ്വന്തമാക്കാൻ അപ്പനു കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. അച്ചൻ്റെ കൈവശം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന നാല് കാലുള്ള പെട്ടിയാണ് ബഹുമാനപ്പെട്ട Sr. ഇസബെല്ല അമ്മായി മഠത്തിൽ ചേർന്നപ്പോൾ കൊണ്ടുപോയത്. കാഞ്ഞൂർ മഠത്തിൽ വെച്ച് എനിക്ക് ആ പെട്ടി കാണുവാൻ സാധിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

1900-ത്തിൽ നിര്യാതനായ നമ്മുടെ അച്ഛനെ ഒല്ലൂർ പള്ളിയിലാണ് അടക്കം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത്.

I am very happy to know that the Meledath Family Association, a group of Meledath Tharavat members, is publishing a family directory. I believe that this will be a historical record for the members of this Tharavat.In this era when the joint family system later evolved into the nuclear family, and relationships and life became a dull family, such associations are proof that the concept of 'family' continues to have a meaning and scope. The words "When you gather in my name, I will be in your midst" become relevant through such activities.This directory that you are publishing should be a record of mutual recognition and relationships. I extend my warmest greetings and blessings to the office bearers and members of the Meledath Family Association who have worked towards this.
